Neurosurgery

VA/DoD Joint Neurosurgery Program

Our joint VA/DoD Neurosurgery Program, co-located at the Fairfield VA Outpatient Clinic and David Grant USAF Medical Center, offers high quality, state-of-the-art neurosurgical care for veterans and qualified dependents.

We offer a wide range of comprehensive neurosurgical care including;
  • Spine surgery (neck, back)
  • Cranial (brain) surgery
  • Peripheral nerve surgery
  • Image-guided surgery

Image-Guided Surgery (IGS)

IGS gives the neurosurgeon the ability to see a three-dimensional image of the patient's spine before and during surgery. This helps the neurosurgeon decide how to access specific areas before making an incision. This state-of-the-art technique can help shorten operating times, result in smaller incisions and reduce recovery times.

Specialist Care

Our patients have access to a wide variety of specialists, including physiatrists (experts in physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurologists (non-surgical nervous disease experts) and experts in pain management.

Referrals

Referrals to the Neurosurgery Program are made by the patient's Primary Care Provider. After a complete evaluation, the provider will determine whether the patient is a candidate for neurosurgical evaluation (i.e., a candidate for surgery) or whether the condition should be treated by another specialist.
