Hepatitis C Testing and Treatment
The CDC and VA recommend hepatitis C testing at least once for all Veterans born between 1945 and 1965. Baby boomers are five times more likely to have hepatitis C than other adults. Many people with chronic hepatitis C do not have symptoms and do not know they are infected. People with chronic hepatitis C can live for decades without symptoms or feeling sick. For additional reasons to get tested, please take a look at our testing page. Please call 916 843-7500 to request testing.
Treatment and Cure
For many of those infected, hepatitis C is a lifelong infection. Chronic hepatitis C can cause serious liver problems including liver damage, cirrhosis, liver failure, or liver cancer. Fortunately, new treatments are able to cure most patients in about 12 weeks and may help prevent further liver damage. There are no injections with the new treatments, and for some treatment is as easy as one pill a day. Please call 916 843-7500 for more information.
