Veterans Day 2018
Sunday is Veterans Day and VA NorCal will host several events Friday and Sunday at the Sacramento VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Mather in honor of the Veterans we serve. Please consider attending and pass the word.
9 a.m.: The Iron Warriors Motorcycle Club (active and retired firefighters and law enforcement officers) will visit patients at the Sacramento VAMC.
10 a.m.: Four Doors Down, a two-man band, will perform in the lobby of Building 650 at the Sacramento VAMC.
1 p.m.: Music by Jess Cheguina and Brother Dave (Veterans of the South Pacific) in Building 650 lobby
1 p.m. Canteen Services will host a brief ceremony for Veterans and provide cake and ice cream in the main canteen/cafeteria in Building 650. Canteen Services will also provide one free meal to Veterans Friday (up to a $6 value) to honor their service.
10 a.m.: VA NorCal and the City of Rancho Cordova will host a Veterans Day ceremony in front of the Sacramento VAMC (flyer attached). The ceremony will mark not only Veteran’s Day, but also the 100th anniversary of Mather Field as an Armed Forces airfield and the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, which ended World War I in 1918. The ceremony will include a keynote speech from retired Col. Robert Martinelli, former commander of Mather Air Force Base, as well as the dedication of new Memorial Plaza bricks honoring local Veterans and their family members.
