Effective interventions and treatments for Veterans with substance use disorders are available at all clinical sites throughout VA NCHCS. From screenings and assessments, to early interventions and motivational enhancement, we strive to engage Veterans who are experiencing substance abuse/dependence with the appropriate level of services. Services are structured to meet the Veteran at his/her level of recovery: Engagement/Motivation (Foundation Groups); Early Recovery (Framework Groups); Sustained Recovery (Capstone Groups); and Aftercare. Outpatient treatment of abuse of/dependence on alcohol, opiates (prescribed and non-prescribed), amphetamines, marijuana, benzodiazepines and barbiturates, is available at Mather, Martinez, Oakland, Redding, Chico, Mare Island, McClellan, Fairfield, and Yuba City. Ambulatory detox is available as needed. Residential detox, residential treatment and transitional clean/sober housing is available through referrals to nearby VAs (Southern Oregon at White City and Palo Alto) as well as contracted community programs. Opiate replacement therapy using buprenorphine is available at Redding, Chico, Fairfield, Mather, Mare Island, Martinez, and Oakland; opiate replacement therapy using methadone is available at Oakland.
